Balloon Kyphoplasty

This is the first book to cover minimal-invasive treatment of osteoporotic, tumorous and traumatic vertebral fractures in the English language. In addition to detailed descriptions of the techniques, including tips and tricks from experts, the book contains a chapter about the medical treatment of osteoporosis, which is indispensable in the interdisciplinary approach to osteoporosis. This acclaimed innovative concept unites several treatment aspects. More conservative treatment methods are also presented in this work.

All chapters reflect new developments and clinical findings in the field of orthopaedics, surgery, traumatology and neurosurgery. These include a new step-by-step treatment method for osteoporosis, new clinical and biomechanical aspects as well as special indications such as osteonecrosis. Furthermore, a chapter discussing the indication and clinical results of balloon kyphoplasty in trauma has been added. Reimbursement schemes of different countries have been added in order to provide an insight into present reimbursement strategies.

Percutaneous Vertebroplasty and Kyphoplasty

This Second Edition has been thoroughly revised to reflect recent advances in the field of percutaneous vertebroplasty. Obsolete sections have been replaced with cutting-edge material, such as an in-depth look at the latest bone cements and devices. Chapters outline spine anatomy, medical management, and patient selection. The text is enhanced by a wealth of illustrations. The addition of practical and challenging case studies furthers the focus of the previous edition by bridging the gap between theory and practice for spine interventionalists, radiologists, neuroradiologists, orthopedic surgeons, and neurosurgeons. New to the Second Edition: - New data on alternate routes for therapy, sacroplasty, and treating tumors - New treatment techniques - Updated examination of biomechanics - New material on complications - Inclusion of vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty cases - Expanded presentation of ACR and SIR care standards - New figures and color images
